Our Founder’s Vision: How Ilyas Vali is Changing the Way We Work
rLoop was born from a simple yet powerful vision shared by a small group of engineers scattered across the globe. It all began on Reddit’s SpaceX community page, where someone proposed that engineers from the r/SpaceX group come together to compete in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. This sparked the creation of a dedicated team, united by the goal of winning the competition, which became known as Reddit Loop aka rLoop.
Coordinating and managing projects at scale the way rLoop does is something decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) in Web3 are just trying to figure out. There are some key leaders which made all this possible.

In his talk at the Running Remote Conference, Vali shared the core idea behind rLoop’s unique approach:
“We realised we were building the future of work… rLoop works with microtasks, breaking down complex subsystems into smaller, manageable tasks that anyone can pick up. This approach allows us to change the economics of payment, where contributors are paid upon completion of a task. We’ve also redefined intellectual property rights, ensuring that the value created within rLoop is shared among the community.”
By focusing on a first principles approach, rLoop has reevaluated traditional organisational models to create a more effective, fair system. Their compensation structure is based on completing microtasks, allowing anyone with the right skills to contribute and push the project forward.
