rLoop: From Reddit to SpaceX and Beyond
While many factors contribute to economic growth, politicians, world leaders and economists tend to agree that innovation is a crucial driver for long-term success. Yet, commitment to innovation has declined as companies and governments focus on short term issues that divert attention from this essential goal.
The Decline of Innovation
Over the past few decades, innovation has steadily declined across many industries. In particular, hardware innovation within manufacturing has become an afterthought. Once considered a booming sector, it’s now seen as a diminishing asset rather than an industry brimming with untapped potential.
Organisations embracing digitisation often struggle to implement real-world applications of new technologies. However, innovation for global problem solving is at the core of rLoop’s mission. As a Decentralised Exponential Organisation (DEO), rLoop challenges traditional business hierarchies, showcasing how an exponential platform can use innovation to make a real world impact.
rLoop’s Beginnings and Growth
rLoop began as a crowdsourced engineering group on Reddit, known as Reddit Loop, with a focus on the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. Over time, it evolved into a decentralised network of engineers, developers and rocket scientists, all united by the mission of empowering humanity through technology.
This Reddit based network now supports and finances research and innovation, transforming from a simple design group into a platform actively shaping the future of work. Originally focused on transportation, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated rLoop’s evolution into a broader innovation hub, addressing global challenges beyond engineering.
Tackling Global Problems with Innovation
rLoop’s engineers are currently working on multiple projects to address some of the world’s most pressing issues. Additionally, we also developed the “rGuard,” a virus attenuation device, which garnered attention with a £200 million offer from Euro-China Technology Achievement Transformation for 100,000 units in 2021.
rLoop is tackling the global plastic pollution crisis. With plastic production set to more than double by 2050, rLoop’s rPlastic project is piloting an alternative to polyethylene for single-layer plastics with the largest beverage company in the world.
Current Project: The GPU Marketplace
In line with our commitment to innovation, we are currently building a decentralised GPU marketplace on the Avalanche C-Chain. This platform will enable users to share and monetise idle GPU resources, supporting the growing demand for GPU power in AI and other computationally intensive industries. The marketplace will provide a peer-to-peer network that facilitates access to these resources, enabling passive income for users with idle GPUs or laptops. This new initiative demonstrates rLoop’s ongoing dedication to addressing the needs of a decentralised, data-driven economy.
Decentralisation as an Ethos
Many technology companies claim we are on the brink of a new era driven by data, smarter cities and environmental sustainability. However, true innovation requires a shift in how we design and prioritise work.
As a fully decentralised, open and self-governing DAO, rLoop incorporates decentralisation into its very foundation. Initially focused on engineering solutions for transportation, rLoop has expanded its scope to include global challenges, all while embedding a decentralised ethos into the way it operates.
With a crowd owned, decentralised model and a hive mind communication system, rLoop is one of the first organisations to rethink the fundamental design of project management and problem solving. In addition to its decentralised model, rLoop is integrating a Reddit style social element and venturing into social finance (SocialFi), with plans to go multi-chain, expanding its presence in the metaverse one blockchain at a time.
